In 2025, endodontic treatment became highly predictable, with even the most challenging cases now treatable nonsurgically. However, endodontically treated teeth still fail due to missing or defective restorations. The restoration of endodontically treated teeth lies in meticulous application of adhesive technologies via the hands of endodontists. Since endodontists may not complete the final restoration, sealing the root canal orifice permanently before the patient leaves the office is advantageous. Ideally, restoring the core should also be done. The safe period to following rehabilitation of the tooth would be extended from weeks to months if not years. It would be beneficial to everyone involved: the endodontist, the patient and the referring dentist. There is no better moment to restore endodontic access than the same session when treatment is completed, as the tooth is anesthetized, the working field is secured, and the dentist has a perfect view of the tooth in the microscope.
On the first day, cumulative knowledge of 25 years of adhesive restorative practice and 18 years of adhesive endo-restorative completing over 6000 cases will be presented. Current clinical protocols and extensive retrospective data will be demonstrated on multiple clinical cases and videos.
On the second day, the workshop will guide participants through common endo-restorative situations and predictably treat them within an endodontic session.
Goals/objectives:
- Retraction - edge visibility, angle, bond flow, protected from saliva
- Fresh cut dentin - removing deproteinized hydroxyapatite
- Bonding layer evenly thick/thin
- Bubble-free dual-cure delivery + adaptation to walls/posts
- Fibre-post selection + insertion
- Resin composite adaptation
- Post removal
Workshop is performed on specifically designed 3D printed models using surgical microscopes.
