Jodhpur is nestled in the Thar Desert, a region once ruled by the Marwar Kingdom —
aptly know as the “Land of Death”. In this land of year-round heat and drought, water is the most precious lifeline. Since the 15th century, the Marwar Kingdom has utilized terrain and gravitational principles to collect water from rain falls and undergrounds, constructing an ancient water supply system to comprise artificial lakes, irrigation canals, and stepwells. Their work transformed the “Land of Death” into a fertile realm.
