In the context of facilitation—especially when navigating hard conversations—grace is not about being passive or overly polite. It is a powerful, intentional, internal stance. It’s how we hold ourselves and others when things get hot, vulnerable, or complex. Grace is the quiet force that allows us to lead with integrity, humility, and presence even when under pressure. Larry Dressler, author of Standing in the Fire: Leading High Heat Meetings with Clarity, Calm, and Courage will share stories and specific practices that help us engage more effectively in difficult conversations.
During this webinar, we will explore ……
- What is “grace under fire” and why is facilitation method and technique not enough to achieve true mastery in the profession?
- What causes you to become reactive when facilitating high-stakes, conflictual or emotionally charged conversations?
- What are five inner capacities that when strengthened, will aid you in staying grounded in the most difficult facilitation situations.
Participants will learn to …
- Identify external conditions that are your “kryptonite” (activate anxiety, defensiveness within you) as a facilitator.
- Apply practices that strengthen the five inner capacities for staying grounded and resilient in difficult facilitation situations.
- Focus on one particular area of growth that supports your ability to embody grace under fire.

How do we enhance the power of dialogue to help a group make better decisions? How can we learn together and support each other’s successes and challenges as a community of dialogue practitioners? These questions are the reasons why the CP Yen Foundation is hosting a series of discussions called “The power of Dialogue-conversations with Masters”.
