[Fun Taiwan] 2025 TAIPEI 101 International Fine Art Competition
I. Purpose of the event:
The 2025 [Fun Taiwan] TAIPEI 101 International Fine Art Competition aims to promote tourism across Taiwan’s counties and cities, where the wonders of local natural resources, scenic spots, authentic cuisines, culture, and arts will be showcased starting from Taipei and TAIPEI 101. The competition invites painting enthusiasts from all over the world to come experience Taiwan’s friendly people and culture as well as its natural landscapes. Through the paintings, catch a glimpse of Taiwan’s plethora of summer activities, famous scenic spots, unique flower shows, flora and fauna, mouthwatering cuisine, and the iconic architectural landmark — TAIPEI 101. Entrants are invited to freely showcase their skills, styles, and creativity by incorporating the imagery of the TAIPEI 101 building, to highlight and depict Taiwan’s unique flora and fauna, culinary delights, cultural atmosphere, or heartwarming moments. The theme of “Fun Taiwan” should be presented from a wide range of innovative perspectives. Entry to the competition is free!
The 2025 [Fun Taiwan] TAIPEI 101 International Painting Competition will be open for online registration on the TAIPEI 101 official website starting April 30, 2025 (Wed). On-site artwork submission (in-person) will be available at the TAIPEI 101 B1 Information Center, 5F Observatory Ticket Counter, and 89F Observatory Service Center from June 30, 2025 (Mon) to August 31, 2025 (Sun).
This year’s artwork selection period will take place from September 8, 2025 (Mon) to September 12, 2025 (Fri), and the list of winners will be announced on the event webpage on the TAIPEI 101 official website on September 30, 2025 (Tue). The winning and outstanding artworks that receive honorable mentions in the competition will be exhibited at the 5F interactive corridor of TAIPEI 101 starting from October 16, 2025 (Thu). All winning artworks will have an opportunity to be featured in TAIPEI 101 promotional material for visitors from all over the world to appreciate.

V. Eligibility: The competition is open to painting enthusiasts of all nationalities with no age restrictions. Those under the age of 18 must have the consent of their legal representative to apply.
VI. Competition Categories: Children’s Category (age 12 and below), Youth Category (age 13-18), and Adult Category (age 19 and above), totaling three categories. Entrants must apply for the corresponding category according to their age, and may not participate in the other categories.
VII. Competition Themes and Call for Submissions:
Entrants are free to showcase their creativity, skills, and styles to create works that reflect the theme of “Fun Taiwan” by incorporating the architectural imagery of TAIPEI 101 and unique elements of Taiwan, such as festivities, famous scenic spots, unique flower shows, flora and fauna, and mouthwatering cuisine. For example: TAIPEI 101 transformed into bubble tea, a Formosan black bear, and so on. Be as creative as you like!
* One entry per entrant only, multiple entries are not allowed. Submissions should be in the form of a “single artwork.” Please specify a title for the artwork according to the theme and include a description of the concept behind the artwork (150 words or less). Entries not submitted in accordance with these requirements will not be accepted.

VIII. Specifications:
- The size of entries should be limited to 4K (39.4 cm 54.6 cm). The medium should be restricted to paper, but there are no limitations on the type of paper used.
- Only 2D paintings are accepted, and participants are not allowed to submit framed artworks, digital drawings, photographs, or surface sculptures.
- Submissions should be in the form of a “single artwork.” Please specify a title for the artwork according to the theme and include a description of the concept behind the artwork (150 words or less).
- Before submitting the artwork, please attach the Declaration of Original Artwork form to the back of the artwork with clear tape.

IX. Submission Guidelines:
Entry to the competition is free of charge. Entrants must first complete the online registration process by visiting the event webpage on the TAIPEI 101 official website during the registration period. During the on-site artwork submission period, the entrant or their legal representative must visit the TAIPEI 101 submission locations (artwork drop-off) in-person to complete the submission process: TAIPEI 101 B1 Information Center, 5F Observatory Ticket Counter, and 89F Observatory Service Center. When submitting the artwork, entrants should attach the Declaration of Original Artwork form to the back of their artwork with clear tape. The form must be completely filled out and the field for the Entrant’s Signature or Seal must be signed or stamped to confirm the authenticity of the work and to ensure eligibility (for participants under the age of 18, the form must be signed by their legal representative/guardian). The above entry requirements must be completed to ensure a successful application.

X. Submission Period and Delivery Location:
Submission Period: From June 30, 2025 (Mon), to August 31, 2025 (Sun).
Submission Locations: Entrants or their legal representative must submit the artworks in person to the designated submission locations at the Taipei 101 Shopping Mall (No. 45, City Hall Rd., Xinyi Dist., Taipei City): TAIPEI 101 B1 Information Center, 5F Observatory Ticket Counter, and 89F Observatory Service Center (select one location for submission).
Entrants must deliver their artworks to the designated submission locations no later than the deadline prescribed. The delivery should be made during the operating hours of TAIPEI 101 Shopping Mall and the Observatory (10:00 to 21:00, Monday to Sunday). Late submissions will not be accepted. The organizer shall not be liable for any damage that occurs in the delivery process or due to force majeure events.
XI. Prize:
- There will be 1 Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award respectively and 7 Outstanding Awards for each category, with 30 awards altogether for the Children’s Category, Youth Category, and Adult Category.
- The awards for each category include: 1 Gold Award winner, who will receive a TAIPEI 101 e-gift card to the value of NT$30,000 and an award certificate. 1 Silver Award winner, who will receive a TAIPEI 101 e-gift card to the value of NT$20,000 and an award certificate. 1 Bronze Award winner who will receive a TAIPEI 101 e-gift card to the value of NT$10,000 and an award certificate. 7 Outstanding Award winners, who will each receive a TAIPEI 101 e-gift card to the value of NT$2,000 and an award certificate.
- Each entrant is allowed to register only one work and is eligible to win only one award. The same work may not be entered multiple times. Those in violation will be disqualified from the competition.
XII. Judges:
- Scoring standards: Structure/composition and visual impact (40%), creativity and originality (35%), technical execution (25%).
- The organizer will invite the head of the supervising organization, as well as scholars, professionals, and experts in the field of arts to form the judging panel. Entrants may not object to the judges and the judging results.
- Artwork that does not comply with the entry requirements or the specifications will not be accepted for judging. Those who violate the provisions of this brochure or fail to complete registration procedures for the competition will not be eligible for the competition.
XIII. Selection Notice:
The organizer will announce the list of winners on the TAIPEI 101 event webpage, while the winners will be contacted through email, phone call, or SMS. If the organizer is unable to get hold of the winner, the award qualification will be canceled. The award will not be reissued and no substitute will be provided.

XV. Award Presentation:
An award ceremony will be held on October 16, 2025 (Thu), during which the award certificates and e-gift cards for each category’s winners will be presented. Winners who are unable to attend in person may collect their awards by presenting their identity documents at the TAIPEI 101 B1 Information Center from October 20, 2025 (Mon) to November 30, 2025 (Sun). Failure to collect the awards during this period will be deemed as forfeiture of the awards.
XVI. Artwork Retrieval Guidelines:
- The winning entries announced by the organizer will not be returned. Anyone who enters in the contest is deemed to agree with and accept the competition provisions of this brochure.
- The organizer will notify entrants between October 20, 2025 (Mon) to November 30, 2025 (Sun) to apply for the retrieval of artwork that did not win an award. All entrants who wish to apply for the retrieval of their artwork must comply with the organizer’s retrieval guidelines and procedures, without any objections. Those who fail to do so will be disqualified from the competition and their entries will not be returned.
XVII. Entry Rules:
- Entries should comply with the painting theme and submission specifications, and must not violate any laws, infringe upon rights, or violate public order and morals. Entries are limited to works that have not been made public in any form or published in any form of media. This means that all or part of the content has not been featured in print media, on the Internet, on social media, in online galleries, or made available to the public in any other way. Entries are also not allowed to be repeatedly submitted to different competitions through the aforementioned media.
- Entries must be independent and original works completed by entrants. Plagiarism, counterfeiting, and substitution are strictly prohibited. Works involved in the infringement of copyright, portrait rights, or other infringement or illegal matters discovered or reported by others and confirmed as true shall be disqualified in the submission period. If the work in question has won an award, it shall be disqualified and the prize recovered. There shall not be a replacement for the award. In case of disputes, violations of the law, or damage to third parties or the organizer, the contestant shall bear all legal and compensatory responsibilities and shall not involve the organizer or supervising unit. The contestant shall also compensate the organizer for any expenses incurred due to such disputes. In case of disputes over portrait rights, copyrights, or the time the photo was taken, the contestants are obliged to provide evidence and must not object to the organizer's final decision on the matter.
- Entrants or their legal representative must sign or stamp the “Entrant’s Signature or Seal” section of the Copyright Transfer and Author Consent Form at the bottom of the entry form, as well as completing the information in each field to be eligible. Award winners shall agree to the organizer publishing their work publicly in accordance with Paragraph 2, Article 15 of the Copyright Act and indicate their name according to their wishes.
- Entrants under the age of 18 must obtain the consent of their legal representatives or guardians and accept the provisions of this brochure to participate in the competition. The organizer has the right to disqualify those who do not have the signature of their legal representative or guardian.
- The copyright of all award-winning works shall belong to Taipei 101 from the date of announcement of the awards and no additional payment will be made for the use of original works or reproductions. Entrants agree not to exercise their moral rights against the organizer or whoever uses the artworks with the consent of the organizer.
- Each entrant to the TAIPEI 101 International Painting Competition is allowed to register only one work and is eligible to win only one award. The same work may not be entered multiple times. Those in violation will be disqualified from the competition. Once the winning artworks are announced, the winners cannot request to cancel their award qualifications.
- Prize money shall be subject to income tax in accordance with the Income Tax Act and the Standards of Withholding Rates for Various Incomes. 10% of the full prize money shall be withheld for individuals residing within the territory of the Republic of China according to the regulations for prizes or payment from contests and games won by chance; 20% of the full prize money shall be withheld for individuals not residing within the territory of the Republic of China (that is, nationals and foreigners who have stayed in the Republic of China for less than 183 days in a taxable year) according to the regulations for prizes or payment from contests and games won by chance. For individuals residing within the territory of the Republic of China, the tax is exempted if the amount withheld each time does not exceed NT$2,000.
- The organizer will notify entrants between October 20, 2025 (Mon) to November 30, 2025 (Sun) to apply for the retrieval of artwork that did not win an award. All entrants who wish to apply for the retrieval of their artwork must comply with the organizer’s retrieval guidelines and procedures, without any objections. - The organizer reserves the right to interpret, modify, and supplement matters listed in this brochure. The organizer may amend this brochure timely to cover any issues not yet addressed herein.
